April 5, 2014 – Archives/Pod Casts Hour 1 – Hour 2 – Hour 3
Hour 1: Deborah Mitchell
Joining Amerika Now during the first hour is author and blogger, Deborah Mitchell, who will be discussing her new book, Growing Up Godless: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Kids Without Religion.
According to blogger Deborah Mitchell, whose CNN iReport “Why I Raise My Children Without God” went viral and sparked numerous debates, “People misunderstand or are fearful of people who don’t believe in God.” In her essay, Mitchell states that she understands why people need God and Heaven and how she does not want religion to go away. She just wishes for it “to be kept at home or in church where it belongs” so that her children can “be free not to believe and to know that our schools and our government will make decisions based on what is logical, just and fair.”
Mitchell’s book, Growing Up Godless, was written to help others who may be struggling with how to assert their beliefs in a reasoned, non-confrontational, and honest manner. Tonight, she’ll address issues that agnostic, atheist, humanist, or secularist parents may face as what to tell classmates to disapproving grandparents.
Deborah Mitchell is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the University of Texas at Dallas. She has an M.A. in Humanities with a major in History of Ideas. Deborah grew up Catholic, but lost her religion over 20 years ago. She doesn’t expect to find it again. She blogs about raising children free of religion at raisingkidswithoutreligion.net. Her article, “Why I Raise My Children Without God,” went viral after it was published on CNN’s iReport, and was moved to the front page of CNN.com. This is her first book. Deborah currently lives in Texas with her husband and two teenage sons.

Hour 2: Janice Carlson
Author, psychic, and medium Janice Carlson joins the show during the second hour to talk about her life as a medium/psychic and her book, Soul Sensing: How to Communicate With Your Dead Loved Ones.
Think it’s impossible to communicate with your dead loved ones? According to Janice Carlson, “they’re probably already communicating with you!” All you need is to understand the language and messaging methods of the dead.
Janice lost her mother and adoptive father to death by the age of 10. After years spent as an advertising copywriter and then as an author of over a dozen novels and novellas, in 1992, Janice accidentally discovered her ability to communicate with the dead. She now uses her two decades of professional afterlife-communications experiences to help you recognize the signs of visitation by your passed loved ones’ souls; pierce the veil between the living and the dead by awakening your seven soul senses; sense the presence and messages of your deceased loved ones using intuition; use afterlife communication tools; encourage visitation from passed loved ones and pets; monitor your dreams for visitations and messages; send messages and receive replies; understand the differences between being visited by spirits and being haunted; and learn why, how, and when to protect yourself from the spirits of the dead.
Afterlife communications aren’t just for seances anymore. They’re being used the world over to ease grief, help survivors move forward with their lives, and come to understand that most human souls do not perish, but continue to be active in our lives on a spiritual basis.
Janice Carlson holds a B.S. degree in Communications and Secondary Education. After years spent as an advertising copywriter, she authored over a dozen novels and novellas released by New York publishers under her fiction-writing pen name, Ashland Price. In 1992, Janice accidentally discovered her ability to communicate with the dead. Since that time, she has done thousands of professional afterlife communications for clients throughout the U.S., with a money-back guarantee of contact.

Hour 3: GUEST HOST – Dr. Robert Forman
Renowned spiritual leader Dr. Robert K. C. Forman will be Amerika Now’s Guest Host during the third hour. Dr. Forman will be interviewing Toronto Psychotherapist and Theorist on Intimacy, Kerry Gordon.
Dr. Robert Forman has often been called “one of the leading voices in the academic debates on mysticism” because of his work in the international scholarly debate about mystical experiences, which came to be known as “The Katz-Forman Debates.” Many of his insights about the spiritual path and goal came from his work as Founder and Executive Director of the Forge Institute for Spirituality and Social Change and the Forge Guild of Spiritual Professionals, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people from any religion or spiritual path live “soul to soul.” He routinely gives lectures, trainings, and workshops around the world. He was the Co-founder and is Executive Editor of The Journal of Consciousness Studies , which has become the principle journal in the field. In addition, he is also the author of ten scholarly books on spirituality, mysticism, consciousness and world religions, including Enlightenment Ain’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be: A Journey of Discovery, Snow and Jazz in the Soul.

Robert’s guest for tonight will be Kerry Gordon, a psychotherapist and spiritual director in Toronto, Canada, who has been in private practice working with couples, individuals, and groups since 1992.
“It was when my father died in 1986 that my relationship with psychotherapy really began. His death was the tipping point in a series of events that pulled the rug from under my life. All that I expected and depended on seemed to suddenly vanish. I was overcome with a sense of hopelessness and despair. But I have come to realize that what seemed so unbearable at the time was actually a rare gift. If not for the profound emotional and spiritual crisis that touched my life I would never have reached out for help. Finding a sympathetic psychotherapist to guide me I began a journey that took me below the surface and into the depths of who I really am. I and others (including Robert Forman) have developed the SoulJazz program to bring the depths of who you are to others and to create much deeper intimacy.”
