The results of this year’s midterm elections in November will determine not only the fate of the presidency, but will also shape the political landscape for years to come.
Some of the key issues that will be decided with the midterms include
- The fate of the Republican agenda, which would be held in check or die if either house of Congress flips.
- The Russia Investigation, which would gain more firepower if either house of Congress flips.
- The ability of the president to carte blanche pick judges and other nominees would be constrained should the Democrats retake the chamber.
- Redistricting: The 2018 midterms will help define political battlegrounds through 2030.
- A shift in legislation. Should the Democrats do well in the midterms, there will be opportunities to bring about more progressive legislation as well as possibly even legally challenge many of the administration’s policies.
