Hour 2, Barb Adams and John J. Higgins – America’s Lost Her WHY (Part 2)
As most of the nation sat stunned and watched this week as the President of the United States suggested we dose ourselves with UV radiation and then inject disinfectants into our bodies to treat coronavirus, Dr. Deborah Birx, who’ve we come to rely on for sensible answers regarding the pandemic, not only didn’t react or call the president out, she actually tried to defend him by saying “he just wanted to talk that through.”
Where’s the accountability? Why didn’t Dr. Birx speak up when Trump talked about injecting disinfectants into people, and why does the media continue to air these so-called briefings which are nothing more than Trump free-for-all rallies? Why aren’t the safeguards in this country working? And why, as a number of states prepare to open up in spite of medical experts warning it’s too early, are we all just sitting and watching this unfold like we can’t do anything about any of it?
America has lost her WHY. Rather than speak up when we see or hear something that isn’t true or that we know isn’t in any of our best interests, we stay silent. And silence isn’t always golden. By remaining silent when we should be speaking up, we are, by default, giving consent.
People talk about accountability, but where’s the action? This isn’t solely about Trump; there’s a lot of collusion happening here at so many levels. Why aren’t people raising their voices or protesting against all of this insanity? We call ourselves the United States of America, but in reality, we’re the Divided States of America.
We have to look in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable, as individuals and as a nation. It takes courage and knowing one’s purpose to be able to speak up and hold another person accountable. But most people don’t know their Why…Why am I here and what’s my purpose? And if you don’t know, you’re susceptible to others leading you astray. History is rife with examples.
The health care workers in Denver who stood alone against a crowd of protestors know WHY they’re doing what they do each and every day to try to help save others while risking their own lives. The Founding Fathers, too, knew WHY they were willing to risk their lives for something greater than themselves.
These are perilous times, and what we do or don’t do and say in these next critical months leading to November will define our country for generations to come.
