Soot May Be Key to Rapid Arctic Melt: An international research team of scientists is in the land of snow and ice in search of soot. It is believed that a thin layer of soot, mostly invisible, may be causing more heat to be absorbed, leading to the recent rapid warming of the Arctic, which could have long-term impacts on the world’s climate.
