We all face hardships in life, but for some, one tragedy turns into another before they find meaning and empowerment. Such was the case for Carmen Ashe. In her book, I Have a Purpose<\/em>, Carmen shares her true story of perseverance through extreme hardship.<\/p>\n

Carmen was always a fighter. She fought to escape the control of her dominating father, carried the dark secret of an abusive family \"\"member, and was beaten by a boyfriend who would rather have seen her dead than let her go. Carmen knew from early on she was the only one who could save herself. Through one tragedy after another, Carmen is forced to rely on her own inner strength to keep herself and her family from falling apart forever.<\/p>\n

Carmen will talk about the lessons she learned from pain and the joy that true love can bring to our lives, no matter what the circumstances may be.<\/p>\n

Carmen Ashe lives in Manhattan and owns her own consulting firm. She previously worked as a radiology manager. By sharing her story she hopes she can spread awareness to those who may have lost courage. In addition, Carmen plans on contributing back to the community by donating 10% of the book\u2019s profits to various charities.<\/p>\n

Catherine will talk about the importance of eating breakfast, how to make vegetables more fun (especially for children), how eating at home can save you big money, what you should and shouldn\u2019t eat before bedtime, why canning and preserving are making a comeback, how to go meatless for some meals, what to stock up on in your pantry, and how to start a soup swap.<\/p>\n

Catherine M. Cassidy is Editor-in-Chief of Taste of Home<\/i>. As such, she is responsible for driving editorial direction and product strategy across the brand\u2019s media platforms which include Taste of \"\"<\/a>Home<\/i>, the number one food and entertaining magazine in the world; social media; special interest publications; and cookbooks. She also is responsible for editorial direction for the magazines Simple & Delicious<\/i> and Healthy Cooking<\/i> and Enthusiast Brands Birds and Blooms, Country, Country Woman, Farm and Ranch<\/em> Living,<\/em> and Reminisce<\/em>.<\/p>\n
