\"\"Joining the show during the second hour is author and adviser to start-ups and established corporations in technology, entertainment, media, and e-commerce, Ken Goldstein. <\/strong>Ken will be discussing Is Facebook the Next AOL?<\/strong><\/em>, which Ken recently wrote an article about and published on his blog, Corporate Intel.<\/a><\/p>\n

Is it alarmist to think that Facebook could collapse at the level of AOL simply because of its latest data breaches?<\/p>\n

According to Ken Goldstein that is a possibility, but he believes it would be overstating the calamity of Facebook’s current situation. Ken also believes if Facebook does implode, it will likely be a slow and painful process much like AOL, with a long-tail legacy business lingering into the digital future. Although Ken is not predicting what will happen, he does suggest what Facebook may be facing if it does not radically rethink its business in real time and take immediate action to course correct.<\/p>\n

Ken will discuss some of the most obvious areas of overlap between Facebook and AOL as well as what Facebook needs to be doing now to save itself.<\/p>\n

Ken Goldstein advises start-ups and established corporations in technology, entertainment, media, and e-commerce.\u00a0He currently\u00a0serves as board chair at ThriftBooks Global<\/a>, the worldwide market leader in online sales of used books. In addition, Ken also serves as Board Chair and is a frequent contributor at\u00a0The Good Men Project<\/a>, an expansive digital content site offering perspectives on social issues in the 21st century. He\u00a0publishes the business blog CorporateIntel<\/a>\u00a0and speaks often on the topics of innovation and creativity. Ken’s first book,\u00a0This Is Rage: A Novel of Silicon Valley and Other Madness<\/a>, was published by\u00a0The Story Plant<\/a>\u00a0in 2013. It was a Barnes and Noble Online bestseller, and a stage adaptation is in development. His second book, Endless Encores: Repeating Success Through People, Products, and Profits<\/a>, was\u00a0published by The Story Plant in 2015. His third book, From Nothing: A Novel of Technology, Bar Music, and Redemption<\/a>, will be published by The Story Plant in 2018 and is due out in June 2018.<\/p>\n

Ken\u00a0served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of\u00a0SHOP.COM<\/a>, an integrated marketplace developing creative new experiences for online consumer commerce through the convenience of OneCart\u00ae, its patented universal shopping cart. SHOP.COM<\/a> was acquired by Market America, where Ken became a strategic advisor to the company\u2019s founders and senior management.\u00a0He previously served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of\u00a0Disney Online<\/a>, the business unit of the Walt Disney Internet Group that produced the leading entertainment web destination for kids and families. Key achievements at Disney developed by his teams included launch of the first massively multiplayer online game for kids, Toontown, as well as FamilyFun.com<\/span>, Movies.com<\/span>, and the broadband service, Disney Connection.<\/p>\n

Prior to Disney, Ken was Vice President of entertainment at\u00a0Broderbund Software<\/a>\u00a0and Founding General Manager of the company\u2019s Red Orb Entertainment division. Before the formation of Red Orb, he was responsible for all aspects of development on Broderbund\u2019s\u00a0acclaimed Carmen Sandiego series. He also worked as a designer\/producer at Philips Interactive Media and Cinemaware Corporation, and for several years as a screenwriter and television executive.<\/p>\n

Ken and his wife, Shelley, who teaches English as a Second Language, make their home in Southern California, where Ken is active in children\u2019s welfare issues and local government. He has served on the boards of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services, the\u00a0Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles, and Full Circle Programs.\u00a0He\u00a0received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University.<\/p>\n
