(1) OPEN Discussion on The Week In Review<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Orlando…the candidates react to the worst mass shooting in U.S. history: Donald Trump criticized President Obama over Orlando, implying the president was somehow “involved” in the shooting;\u00a0 Hillary Clinton chastised Trump for his “shameful remarks.” Clinton shifted her rhetoric and used “radical Islamism” to describe the terrorist threat, causing Trump to claim credit for her shift. Clinton’s speech focused on unity and gun control (never mentioning Trump’s name); Trump’s speech focused on slamming Clinton and Obama for the most part. And President Obama didn’t stay quiet…denouncing Trump for his “dangerous mind set.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the city of Orlando tries to pick up the pieces after the horrific mass shooting. How will Orlando affect efforts to pass hate crime laws, and how will the LGBT community get through yet another act of hate directed toward them? (LGBT Americans are more than twice as likely to be targeted by violent hate crimes than other groups.)<\/p>\n

And are mass shootings becoming so common we’re becoming numb to them?\u00a0 Are they so ingrained in society and our consciousness that they’re now an inevitable aspect of life in America?<\/p>\n

In other news this week, another big hack…this time the Democratic National Committee as Russian hackers have been found to have been hacking DNC computers and stealing (among other data) research on Donald Trump. Disney’s beaches remain closed after they removed a number of alligators from the lagoon where an alligator snatched the 2-year-old boy from Nebraska. And the parents of a now 18-year-old female are being charged for “giving” her at age 14 to a man who assisted them financially.<\/p>\n

She and her husband currently reside in Bellevue, Washington. They have raised four children, who of course never eat anything that\u2019s bad for them.<\/div>\n
